Simple Text Editor
Oxygen XML Editor Eclipse plugin specializes in XML-related technologies, you can also use it to create and edit various types of non-XML files. Non-XML files are opened in a simple text editor and many of the helpful features that are commonly used when editing XML files in the Oxygen XML Editor Eclipse plugin Text editing mode are available in this simple editor.

Features Available in the Simple Text Editor
When editing files in the simple text editor, the features that are available include the following:
- Project Support - The unique features that are designed to help you work with projects are available for all types of files.
- Shortcut Actions - Many of the shortcut actions that are available in Text mode are also available in the simple text editor.
- Drag and Drop - The normal drag and drop support is available in the simple text editor.
- Content Selection Features - The content selection shortcuts that are available in Text mode are also available in the simple text editor.
- Convert Hexadecimal Characters - You can convert a sequence of hexadecimal characters to the corresponding Unicode character.
- Encoding/Decoding Actions - Contextual menu actions are available to encode or decode Base 64, Base 32, and Hex schemes.
- Code Templates - You can define your own code templates for any type of file and use the Content Completion Assistant to invoke them.
- Syntax Highlighting - Non-XML files also support syntax highlighting with dedicated coloring schemes. To customize them, open the Preferences dialog box and go to . Select and expand the appropriate section in the top pane for the type of file you are editing and you can see the effects of your changes in the Preview pane.
