Workspace DITA Map Tree Editor
The Content Fusion Personal Workspace includes a specialized DITA map tree editor where you can easily modify the structure of a publication using various mouse, keyboard, toolbar, and contextual menu actions.
To open and edit the DITA map defined in the particular publication in a tree editor, select the publication in the Publications side-view (inside the personal workspace) and click the Open in editor button next to the drop-down control.
General Features
- An icon that represents its type of DITA resource is displayed on the left side of each topic or map reference. For example, a DITA Map is displayed with the icon, a DITA Topic is displayed with , a DITA Task is displayed with , etc. If the referenced topic is missing or not well-formed XML, an error icon is presented instead.
- When you expand a topic or map reference, topic titles for the child topic references are computed and presented as the reference is expanded.
- Hovering over a topic reference presents a tooltip with information about the reference, such as the path of the file, any defined key name, key reference, key scope, processing role, or profiling attributes that are set on the topic reference or inherited by it. If the referenced topic is missing or not well formed XML, the tooltip presents details about the problem.
- You can drag an external link and drop it within the map to quickly insert a reference.
- You can use drag and drop to move topic references and organize the map content.

You can drag a file from the Files or Publications view and drop it to a location within the tree editor. This inserts a link or topic reference for the file at the drop location within the map.
Toolbar Actions
When the map is open in the tree editor, the following actions are available on the toolbar:
- Undo
- Reverses the most recent change.
- Redo
- Repeats the most recent change.
- More drop-down
- This extra menu includes the following:
- Download
- Downloads the currently edited DITA map.
- Edit in Author Mode
- Switches to the Author visual editing mode.
- Report Problem
- Opens a dialog box that allows you to write the description of a problem that was encountered while using the application. You can also select additional information to be sent to the technical support team within the various tabs.
- Edit Properties
- Opens a dialog box where you can change the reference type or edit attributes for the currently selected reference.
- Edit Profiling Attributes
- Opens a dialog box where you can edit profiling attributes for the currently selected reference.
- Topic Reference
- Inserts a new topic reference at the specified location.
- Remove Reference
- Deletes the selected reference.
- Move Up
- Move the reference up.
- Move Down
- Move the reference up.
- Promotes
- Promotes the reference one level.
- Demote
- Demotes the reference one level.
- Show Profiling Attributes
- Displays profiling information directly on the reference.
Contextual Menu Actions
You can right-click items in the map and the following possible contextual menu actions are available:
- Edit Properties
- Opens a dialog box where you can edit attributes/properties for the currently selected reference.
- Edit Profiling Attributes
- Opens a dialog box where you can select profiling attributes for the currently selected reference.
- Creates a new DITA topic or map in the connected document storage and inserts a reference to it.
- Inserts a new topic reference at the specified location.
- Opens a dialog box where you can configure a new key name and browse for an associated topic reference. A key definition that contains the defined key/topic reference combination will be inserted.
- Opens a dialog box where you can configure a new key name with an associated keyword value that will be inserted as a key definition that contains the defined key/value combination.
- Inserts a reference to a DITA map.
- Inserts a topic heading with a specified title.
- Inserts a chapter or part reference at the specified location inside a bookmap.
- Inserts a specific type of bookmap reference inside a bookmap.
- Cut/Copy
- Cuts or copies one or multiple selected references to the clipboard.
- Paste/Paste before/Paste after
- Pastes clipboard content inside, before, or after a reference.
- Remove Reference
- Deletes the selected reference.
- Undo/Redo
- Reverses or repeats the most recent change using the available actions or the regular keyboard shortcuts.
- Moves references up, down, promotes them, or demotes them.
- Show Profiling Attributes
- Displays profiling information directly on the reference.
- Hide Excluded Content
- Hides content excluded by the specified profiling attributes for the reference.
- Collapse all
- Collapses all levels on the currently selected reference.
