00:00:052020 has certainly been a unique and  challenging year for all of us, but
00:00:10the Oxygen team persevered and we are very  proud to announce the release of Oxygen 23,
00:00:16the most powerful and comprehensive version  of the Oxygen suite of products to date.
00:00:21Here are some of the highlights of the most  requested and exciting new features.
00:00:27As always, we focused a lot of attention  on requests submitted by the ever-expanding
00:00:32DITA community to make the authoring experience  in Oxygen even more efficient and dynamic.
00:00:38For example, a new option called  “Allow referenced submaps to be edited”
00:00:44can be enabled in the DITA –  Maps preferences page ...
00:00:48and after reopening the DITA map, you now  have the ability to edit submaps directly
00:00:54in the DITA Maps Manager view without  needing to open them in their own tab.
00:01:00Similarly, a new option called “Allow  referenced content to be edited”
00:01:06can be enabled in the Author  preferences page...
00:01:10and this means that when you use the “Open Map  in Editor with Resolved Topics” button from
00:01:16the DITA Maps Manager’s toolbar, the DITA map  is opened in the main editor with the content
00:01:21from all referenced topics expandable  and editable directly in the editor.
00:01:29A new option was also added in the DITA preferences  page to enable DITA 2.0 editing support.
00:01:38This, for instance, makes it  possible to create DITA 2.0
00:01:42maps and topics from the new document wizard.
00:01:49Oxygen now includes a dynamic feature  where certain editing events will trigger
00:01:54a floating toolbar with common editing actions  that are available in the current context.
00:01:58This increases your productivity by making your  DITA editing experience even more efficient.
00:02:08On the DITA publishing side... You now have the ability to run
00:02:13multiple DITA-OT or Ant transformation scenarios  simultaneously. This helps to reduce the amount
00:02:20of time it takes for the publishing engine  to finish transforming large projects.
00:02:33After configuring the transformation  scenarios however you like...
00:02:37when more than one is selected  in the configuration dialog box,
00:02:42you then have access to a new option to  Run the transformations in parallel.
00:02:50Image maps are now fully supported  in CSS-based PDF output.
00:02:55When configuring the DITA Map to PDF based  on HTML5 & CSS transformation scenario,
00:03:02you now have access to a few new parameters  that instruct the publishing engine to show
00:03:06the shapes and numbers over the  top of the published image.
00:03:25In the output, the shapes and numbers are  rendered as clickable areas within the image
00:03:30and the list of links are presented below it.
00:03:36The development team continued  to integrate and improve various
00:03:39add-ons that extend Oxygen’s functionality.
00:03:42A vast amount of improvements and new features have been added to the Git Client since the last  major release. One example is a new toolbar button
00:03:50that opens the Git Branch Manager side view. It presents all the local and remote branches
00:03:56as a tree. You can double-click to switch to  that branch and various actions were added to
00:04:02the contextual menu to make it very easy to check  out branches, and to create or delete branches.
00:04:10A new Terminology Checker add-on is now available.  You can create a terminology file with a set of
00:04:16rules for each term and flagged terms are  displayed in a Terminology Helper view.
00:04:22This view offers some contextual menu actions  for replacing the highlighted content...
00:04:27and flagged terms are also  highlighted in the main editor pane
00:04:30where an inline drop-down menu offers  proposals for replacing the term.
00:04:38Another new add-on is available that  provides support for helping translators.
00:04:43It provides access to contextual menu  action to show the current content
00:04:48in a Translator Helper side-view. You can then replace the content in the
00:04:52editor pane with translated content  and compare them side by side.
00:04:57Oxygen's implementation of the  diff and merge support in the
00:05:00Eclipse plugin now includes a text-based mode. There are several ways to trigger a comparison
00:05:06and you can even do a 3-way comparison  if a common ancestor exists.
00:05:12It automatically opens the comparison in the  visual mode, but there is now a toolbar button
00:05:17for switching to the text-based mode... and it has the same features and options
00:05:23that are available in the file comparison tool  included in the standalone version of Oxygen.
00:05:31As usual, we did not forget  about our JSON users.
00:05:36You can now edit JSON and JSON Schema documents  in the visual Author editing mode and you have
00:05:42access to the various features and actions  that are available for XML documents.
00:05:47For example, it has content  completion and validation support...
00:05:56you can use form controls or  inline editing widgets...
00:06:00and you can query properties and  values using XPath expressions.
00:06:09Oxgyen now includes a handy tool for generating  documentation for a JSON Schema file.
00:06:16Once you specify the path to  the JSON Schema and the output
00:06:20file path, the documentation is  generated in HTML format.
00:06:29A variety of exciting new features were added for  the innovative online Oxygen XML Web Author.
00:06:37Over the past few years, one of the most  requested features from Web Author users
00:06:41has been the ability for teams to edit  and review content concurrently.
00:06:46You can share your editing session by  sending its URL to other collaborators...
00:06:52and then you and your colleagues can edit and  review the same document simultaneously.
00:06:59The concurrent editing session continues  as long as you keep the document open
00:07:03and the person who originally shared the session  is the only one who can save the document.
00:07:14A new option was added in the DITA Map Display  Mode drop-down menu to Edit Topic Content.
00:07:21The DITA map is then displayed with its content  from all referenced topics expanded and you can
00:07:26edit the referenced content directly.
00:07:31Web Author now includes a dynamic feature where certain editing events will trigger a floating toolbar.
00:07:39It includes editing actions that are available  in the current editing context. This increases
00:07:45your productivity by giving you easier access to  the most common editing and styling actions.
00:07:54You now have the ability to transform  Web Author content to PDF.
00:07:58Oxygen PDF Chemistry is used  behind the scenes to produce
00:08:02the PDF and it is customizable using CSS.
00:08:13and paste it into an external application  and the HTML structure is preserved.
00:08:21It is now easier to open links within documents,  simply by using the Control Click shortcut...
00:08:29and it opens the link in a new browser tab.
00:08:35Support was added for Bitbucket  Server integrations.
00:08:40You can commit changes in a document  to the Bitbucket repository...
00:08:47and after a successful commit...
00:08:52you then have the option to view  it on the Bitbucket server.
00:08:57These were just some of the most highly  anticipated new features added in version 23.
